Overview

This IDC Health Insights study looks into the business features of China's regional health information system (RHIS) and analyzes its cloud solution architecture. The study can provide a reference for medical institutions adopting cloud technology and an analysis of the cloud market opportunities for vendors.

"According to the 3521 Plan, which is the IT development plan mapped out by the Ministry of Health in 2011 for China's health industry, China will establish three levels of RHIS for which the cloud solutions are very suitable. Although cloud solution adoption is still at the trial stage at present, the cloud technology is gradually being accepted by IT professionals in the healthcare industry. We predict that cloud will be widely established in the coming years and will become the major platform for RHIS in five years," says Leon Xiao, senior research manager, IDC Health Insights, China.
