Overview
This IDC Health Insights report identifies and evaluates the portfolio of applications to meet the requirements of accountable care. Much of the functionality exists in health plan applications but must be modified to meet accountable care demands. The market for these applications is fragmented with suppliers from many parts of the healthcare technology ecosystem. Because of the nascent nature of these markets, healthcare organizations considering acquisition must be diligent in their evaluation of a vendor's long-term commitment to this market.
"Healthcare organizations engaging in accountable care must evaluate their readiness to take on new roles and new technology before they begin investing. Outsourcing is a good alternative in this emerging market," says Cynthia Burghard, research director, IDC Health Insights.
