Silvia Piai is Research Manager within IDC Health Insights and IDC Government Insights in EMEA. Since 2006 in her role, she supports the government, healthcare, and education research services for Western Europe.

Ms Piai analyzes and anticipates key trends and forecasts related to IT strategies and spending in national healthcare systems and in central and local government organizations in Western Europe overall, as well as in major European countries (UK, Spain, Italy, Germany and France).

Ms Piai's healthcare related research looks into the structure and the composition of national health systems by major agency types; the dynamics of budgets and procurement and their impact on IT spending, as well as the impact of the regulatory framework on IT deployment levels.

Ms Piai's analysis offers in-depth coverage of the technologies that provide the most clinical value in terms of quality, cost, time, and agility and are transforming pre-care, point of care (POC), and post-care today. Analyzing the adoption and the investment plans of healthcare organizations Ms Piai describes the evolution of healthcare IT and gives key insight on primary factors shaping the industry and the implications for the coming year future.

Ms Piai graduated in international relations with a specialization in international economics at the University of Trieste (Italy).
