EMEA Research Director, IDC Government Insights and IDC Health Insights

Massimiliano Claps is research director for IDC Health Insights and IDC Government Insights in EMEA. Claps is responsible for analyzing key trends related to IT strategies and spending in European central and local government and healthcare provider organizations.

Claps comes from Gartner, where he was research director with the government team for four years and advised public sector CIOs and IT vendors around the globe. At Gartner, he focused in particular on IT strategy and governance; IT cost optimization, IT sourcing models, such as cloud computing and shared services, and software application products, from ERP and CRM to government-specific solutions, such as grants management.

Claps worked with IDC between 2002 and 2007. During his previous assignment at IDC, he led the EMEA Government and Health Insights business and also worked for a year with IDC Canada, where he collaborated in the ramp up of the government research.

Before entering the IT industry, Claps worked for two years at the Monitor Group as a junior consultant with a team that advised major multinationals in the food and beverage, construction, media and telecoms, and pharmaceutical industries about their business and management strategies.

Claps graduated in business administration with a specialization in international business at the Bocconi University (Italy).
