Overview
This IDC Health Insights report provides an analysis of the results of the 2009 survey covering France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. This study focuses on healthcare providers' priorities and investment plans in enterprise IT solutions (enterprise resource planning; customer relationship management, content and document management, collaborative technologies, business intelligence and analytics and industry specific) in the top Western European countries and subsectors.
"Analyzing both healthcare investment priorities and plans, a clear trend is emerging: healthcare executives are gradually focusing on leveraging data more effectively. Healthcare executives are aiming to exploit data produced by industry-specific technologies in multiple ways and for multiple purposes. Therefore, there is an increasing attention to content and document management, ERP, and BI," said Silvia C. Piai, IDC Health Insights senior research analyst for EMEA. "IT vendors who want to capture a share of that growth must tailor their offerings to match user requirements and assist them in evolving feasible IT systems. On the other hand, IT healthcare executives have to keep in mind that the time for standalone solutions has passed. To maximize benefits from investments, integration inside and outside the hospital will be the buzzword."
